Kristen Caven, CWC representative to Oakland’s Friends of Joaquin Miller Park, and the Friends of Joaquin Miller Park are leading an initiative to have the City of Oakland formally change the name from the park’s Fire Circle to the California Writers Circle. On this popular location for CWC picnics, Joaquin Miller held his outdoor salons — High Jinx (plays, readings) and Low Jinx (comedy performances) that included Jack London, John Muir, and other famous writers and artists.
