Membership

There are three membership categories under which a person can become a new member.

Active, Associate literary professionals (Associate), or Student.  

Active. Active members are writers who produce works of fiction, nonfiction, memoir, poetry, plays or other creative writing. A writer does not have to be published to be an Active member. 

Associate / Associate Literary Professionals. Associate members are career professionals in areas related to writing. Associate members include editors, librarians, agents, booksellers, publishers, producers, directors, and book illustrators. 

Student. Student memberships are offered to writers from the ages of 14 through 22. Student members will not be eligible to vote or hold office. Exceptions may be made by the central board. 

Dues/Fees

The annual membership dues is $45 with a one-time $20 new-member processing fee for Active and Associate members who join for the full year (July-June).

In January, a new member can apply for a half-year membership. The dues and fee is $42.50.

The annual membership fee for a Student member is $15.00.
