Orange Co: (In-Person): Writing the Killer Crime Novel

April 2, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

“Writing the Killer Crime Novel” with Joe Ide
As with all CWC author speakers, the genre is only part of the story. The author’s journey applies to every writer.

Joe Ide is of Japanese American descent and grew up in South Central Los Angeles. Joe’s favorite books were the Conan Doyle stories of Sherlock Holmes. The idea that a person could face the world and vanquish his enemies with just his intelligence fascinated him.

Joe went on to earn a graduate degree and had several careers before writing his debut novel, IQ, inspired by his early experiences and love of Sherlock. Joe lives in Santa Monica, California. (from JoeIde.com)

Smoke, the fifth and latest installment in the IQ series was released in 2021 by Mulholland Books, an imprint of Little, Brown and Company.

Joe will join us to discuss the elements that make a crime novel compelling to readers, leading to a successful writing career.
