SUMMARY:Orange Co (In Person): The Right Way To Write A Series and How I Do It
DESCRIPTION:“The Right Way To Write A Series and How I Do It” w/ Matt Coyle\nJanuary 08\, 2022\n\n9:00am – 9:30am Networking\n9:30am – 11:00am Guest Speaker\n\n\nOne of the major trends in the publishing business is to create books in a series. Readers enjoy the ongoing journey while publishers reap a return on investment as it brings customers back over and over. \nBooks in a series are packaged and repackaged\, finding new readers and marketing opportunities. As an audience widens\, opportunities such as audiobooks can open up. Series are also attractive to content-hungry entertainment and video game companies. \nAuthor Matt Coyle has enjoyed success following this formula. The eighth book in his Rick Cahill series was recently released to thrilled readers. All previous 7 books appear in hard cover\, audiobook\, paperback\, and Kindle formats. Matt stays busy releasing novels at a rate of nearly one per year. \nMatt will discuss the journey\, process\, and steps he has taken to carefully craft a successful writing career. Please join us for this enlightening journey. \nTo learn more about the author please visit https://mattcoylebooks.com \n\n\nVisit our new meeting location at:\n\nAnaheim Packing House\n440 S. SUMMARY:East Sierra (In Person): Becoming a Fantasy Author
DESCRIPTION:BECOMING A FANTASY AUTHOR \nLocal novelist Kelsey Norton will talk about “Becoming a Fantasy Author” at our January 6 meeting\, Thursday evening\, 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room of Ridgecrest Presbyterian Church\, 633 W. Las Flores. Public welcome. No charge for admission. Masks required. \nAiming her spellbinding tales at the YA market (and some younger as well as older readers)\, Kelsey sets her tales in the Dells\, a land of humans and mystics. Mystics have differently colored streaks in their hair\, each hue revealing their individual powers: magic\, light\, emotions\, and others. Blue\, yellow\, pink\, and so on. But Alina\, born with a red streak\, poses a quandary because nobody ever had a red streak before. Kelsey explores a maze of questions of identity\, self-acceptance\, and self-doubt throughout Alina’s story. Ultimately\, the message emerges that we should understand our power even if we don’t think we have any. \nNow hard at work on her third book\, Kelsey feels that she always had a flare for imagination. She started writing in the third grade\, with a yarn about how a skunk got its stripe. In fact\, she says\, “I essentially wrote if for myself at 14. I would have wanted a book like this.” \nYou can find her first two books\, Dragon Scale Prophecies: Truth and Dragon Scale Prophecies: Courage available at Red Rock Books and online from Amazon.
